1 - Public input to municipal budget for FY2024-25
The budget draft for next Financial Year (FY2024-25) was presented at the February 12 Council meeting.
Public scrutiny and input on public budgets - the use of your taxpayer funds - is an essential part of the democratic process. Your comments and suggestions are welcome by email to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) until Sunday March 10: victoriamunicipalitypei@gmail.com
The draft budget is available here: https://www.rmvictoria.com/financial-plan
Staff will not be able to respond personally to every comment, but will create a summary of comments received, and notes on how the comments were incorporated in an updated draft, to be produced and presented at the March 18 Council meeting.
If the budget for FY2024-25 is not approved at the March 18 Council meeting, a Special Meeting of Council will need to be scheduled for this purpose, before the end of March.
2 - Other Upcoming Council & Committee meetings
Council - Next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday March 19, 2024, at 6:30pm
Planning Board and W&S Corporation Board have no currently-scheduled meetings, but a W&S Corporation Board meeting is expected before the end of March.
As per our Procedural Bylaw, Agendas and packages for meetings will be published on the website 2 days in advance, at www.rmvictoria.com/agendas-and-minutes
3 - Sunday Feb 25 - “A stroll through Victoria’s past” for Heritage Week
The Victoria Historical Association is opening the archives and inviting residents and friends to take a "STROLL THROUGH VICTORIA'S PAST " on Heritage Day, Sunday Feb 25th from 12-4pm at the Old Victoria School .
Artifacts, documents, photos from Victoria's bygone days will be on display for viewing. Take the Victoria History Quiz and win a prize! Silent auction and light refreshments will be provided.
Donations of historical items (lamps, doilies, postcards, decor) to the auction would be appreciated and could be dropped off at the school on Saturday Feb 24th after 1 pm.
4 - Sustainability Study action plan & reports
Council has requested that the community be provided with a summary that the CAO created in November, about what has been done in response to the 2022 Municipal Sustainability Study.
That update can be found on this page of our website: https://www.rmvictoria.com/studies
